Badgers power past Rams, 5-2, to start the season 3-0
MADISON, Wis. – Building off the two victories from Friday, the Wisconsin women's tennis team continued the early season success Sunday afternoon by defeating Colorado State, 5-2, at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

After winning the doubles point, No. 46 Lexi Keberle grabbed Wisconsin's (3-0) second point, flying past CSU's (1-1) Alyssa Grijalva, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 2 singles slot. No. 31 senior Sara Castellano defeated Emily Leutschwager, 6-3, 6-1 to give UW a 3-0 lead.

Sophomore Anna Makarova locked up the victory for Wisconsin by defeating CSU's Stella Cliffe, 7-5, 6-3. Winning Wisconsin's fifth point was freshman Ava Markham, knocking off Emily Ghanem, 6-3, 6-4.

UW opened up the match by winning the doubles point after the No. 3 duo of MaryAnn Rompf and junior Melissa Pick took the match, 6-1 and No. 1 duo of Castellano and Makarova won, 6-3.

Up next: UW remains at home next weekend as it hosts three matches. The first is a host of Marquette on Friday, Feb. 1 set at 4 p.m. CT. On Saturday, Feb. 2, UW will take on Iowa State at 11 a.m. and Northern Illinois at 4 p.m.
