Mao, Sehmann earn Big Ten Swimmer of the Week nods

Wisconsin duo sweep Big Ten weekly honors for performances at Hawaii
MADISON, Wis. –Fresh off stellar showings against the University of Hawaii, Wisconsin's MJ Mao and Emmy Sehmann have each been named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week.Â

Mao, returning to his Hawaiian roots, recorded individual wins in the men's 100-yard butterfly (48.37) and 100 breaststroke (54.72), events in which he holds top-10 times on the Big Ten seasonal list.Â
Â
The sophomore also assisted his 200 medley relay squad to a winning effort that clocked in at 1:29.87.

For his hometown heroics, the Honolulu native helped Wisconsin's men sink the Rainbow Warriors, 134-109.
Â
Sehmann also earned two individual wins, topping the field in the 50 freestyle (23.53) and 100 free (51.32). In both events, Sehmann ranks among the league's top 10 this season.Â

The Bowling Green, Ohio, product also anchored UW's 200 medley relay squad to a win in 1:41.01.Â

The senior standout was key to the Badgers' 146-97 win over their hosts from Hawaii.Â

Wisconsin returns to action Jan. 19 when the Badgers close out their dual-meet schedule by facing Big Ten foes Iowa and Northwestern in Iowa City.
