Badger seniors set to make their season debut
MADISON, Wis. - The No. 9 Wisconsin women's cross country team is on the road again for the Joe Piane Invitational on Friday in South Bend, Indiana. The women's 5000- meter race will start at 12 p.m. and the men's 5 mile will follow.Â

1. STANDOUT SENIORS: The Badgers three standout seniors are set to make their season debut this weekend. This meet will mark Amy Davis, Alicia Monson and Alissa Niggemann's last, first collegiate cross country meet.Â
2. STRONG START: The women are coming off a 3rd place finish at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational scoring 84 points last Saturday lead by three true freshmen, Victoria Heiligenthal, Shea Ruhly and Sarah Shulze. The team looks to continue their success and strong performances this weekend in Indiana.
3. COACHES' POLL/RANKINGS AFTER WEEK THREE: The USTFCCCA released national and regional coaches poll this week placing Wisconsin at no. 9 nationally and no. 2 in the Great Lakes Region. This is the third consecutive week the Badgers have been ranked inside the top 10.
4. 2019 DEBUT: Some of the team's top runners will be making their season debut this Friday. The Badgers will run eight athletes this weekend including Alicia Monson, Amy Davis, Alissa Niggemann, Lucinda Crouch, Madison Mooney, Peyton Sippy, Rachel Werking and Alexa Westley. All but Alexa Westley (Badger Classic) will be representing the Badgers for their first race of the 2019 season this weekend. True freshman, Alexa Westley looks to build off a fantastic start to her season after finishing first at the Badger Classic.Â
5. REST NEXT WEEK:Â The Badgers will have a break from competition next week. They'll be back in action at home for the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in two weeks at the historic Zimmerman Championship Course.
