BOSTON – The Wisconsin men's rowing program opened up its 2019-20 campaign with two strong finishes at the Head of the Charles in Boston on Sunday afternoon.

The weekend was highlighted by UW's top-10 finish in the championship fours, where the Badgers earned a seventh-place finish out of 15 boats. The foursome of Henry Roberts, Matthew Palmer, Isaac Krahn and Owen Lilleleht finished in a time of 16:06:701, just 18 seconds behind the leading crew.

Wisconsin also competed in the championship eights, where UW finished in 23rd with a time of 14:30:177, fifteenth among competing collegiate teams.

Up Next: The Badgers travel across state-lines to Minneapolis for the North Star Regatta on Saturday, Oct. 26. Varsity team members travel to compete in the Princeton Chase on Sunday, Oct. 27. 

UW alumni Ben Ruble (2018), Andrew Griffin (2018) and Will Horvat (2015) competed in the Camp Randall boat this weekend in the championship fours where they finished in ninth place with a time of 16:22:307.

"They were consistent, no big problems but we've got to get a a lot stronger, need to get more physical and have more juice to stay up with the stronger crews."

"Excellent news and finish with the fours, just about 18 seconds out of first place which is colossal improvement from where we were at least last season, it's coming."

On next week
"Next week we face a lot of the same team's again at Princeton so just having this race (Head of the Charles) and a few extra days practice should help quite a bit. We've just got to keep getting after it."
