LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After 54 holes, the Wisconsin women's golf team completed the Cardinal Cup on Sunday to wrap up its fall season.
The team finished the final day in seventh place after shooting an eight-over-par 296, the same score they took on Saturday. Overall, the Badgers finished with a 26-over 890 strokes, marking their first time finishing under 900 strokes for the season. They were also one of only five teams in the 17-team field to shoot under 300 all three days of the tournament.
Tess Hackworthy took the opportunity to step up during the Cardinal Cup. Leading the team through all three days, the senior made a statement on the final day with a one-under round of 71. She capped off a great tournament by finishing in a tie for sixth place. She also shot a career low 54-hole score with a 216, which was previously at 221.
Emily Lauterbach also finished in the top 25 players with a final round at one-over 73, totaling seven-over through all three rounds with 223 strokes. She tied for 23rd.
Next up for the Badgers was sophomore
Tracy Lee. Finishing tied for 29th with a final score of nine-over-par 225, she set a season low 36-hole score of 148, improving by one stroke. Redshirt junior
Eloise Healey tied for 36th and set a season record 54-hole score with an 11-over 227, a five-stroke improvement from her previous season low of 232 set at the Glass City Invitational. Rounding out for the Badgers was junior
Claire Fitzgerald, who finished tied for 61st with a 17-over score of 233.
This was the final tournament of the fall season for the women's team. Their next time out will be the Westbrook Invitational which the Badgers host in Peoria, Arizona, on Feb. 23-24, 2020.
