MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men's tennis will head out west to Lincoln, Nebraska to partake in the Big Ten Singles and Doubles Championships. Play is set to start on Friday, November 1 and will continue through Sunday, November 3.
1. WISCONSIN'S LAST TIME OUT: At UW's last individuals play, the Badgers competed at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships held at OSU Varsity Tennis Center.
Lenard Soha,
Scott Sculley, and
Jared Pratt each picked up a win in main draw singles play with three-set wins. The Badger teams of Colton and Sculley and Pratt and Soha both advanced to the third round of main draw doubles play while Krill and Vilela and Huber and Parts ended their reign in the second round. Daniel Nuznhy recorded two wins in the qualifying singles bracket while
Chase Colton and
Gabriel Huber each had solo wins in main draw consolation.
2. ABOUT THIS WEEKEND: Wisconsin will send
Daniel Nuzhny,
Scott Sculley,
Gabriel Huber,
Robin Parts, and
Martim Vilela to the Big Ten Singles and Doubles Championships Tournament at Lincoln, Nebraska. The matches, starting November 1 at 8 a.m., will be played at Dillon Tennis Center. The final rounds in singles and doubles will be completed on Sunday.
3. LOOKING BACK AT LAST YEAR: In 2018, the Big Ten Individual Championships was hosted by Michigan, where three Badgers competed in the singles and doubles draw.
Jesper Freimuth recorded three wins in the singles draw, advancing to the semifinals. His run ended in the final four of the tournament in a three-set match against Ohio State's Tim Seibert.
