Badgers conclude fall play in a border battle
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's tennis team will wrap up their fall season this upcoming weekend as they travel across the border to Minneapolis. The Badgers are prepared to compete in the Gopher Invitational from Friday, November 8 to Sunday, November 10.
1. WESTERMAN'S WING: "I'm very excited to travel as a whole team for this final tournament weekend for the fall. The guys have been working extremely hard the entire fall and we are pumped to end the fall on a high note. Having the whole team together with some new doubles pairings throughout the lineup should lead to some high energy tennis. Minnesota does an outstanding job as hosts and the format of this event will lead to a really fun and exciting weekend of tennis." - head coach Danny Westerman.
2. RECAPPING THE B1G INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS: Last weekend, the Badgers traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska to partake in the Big Ten Individual Championships. Freshman Robin Parts had an opportunity for Wisconsin, advancing to the semifinals of the singles draw. Parts fell short to his No.99-ranked competitor, Northwestern's Dominik Stary. In the first day of doubles play, two sets of Badgers advanced to the quarterfinals, but were unable to move forward.
3. ABOUT THIS WEEKEND: This is the third-straight season the UW will play at the Gopher Invitational. Wisconsin will send its entire squad to the tournament in Minneapolis.
