Watts, Campbell and Steffen earn Player of the Month accolades

Group led UW to a 10-0-0 start in September and October
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's hockey trio of Daryl Watts, Kristen Campbell and Mekenzie Steffen all took home player of the month awards for September and October, the WCHA and Hockey Commissioners Association announced on Wednesday.
Watts was named the HCA National Player of the Month and the WCHA Forward of the Month, Campbell was named the HCA and WCHA Goaltender of the Month while Steffen was named the WCHA Defenseman of the Month.
Watts enjoyed a great first month for Wisconsin, scoring in her first seven games as a Badger, which matched the school record for the longest goal streak to start a season. The junior from Toronto tallied a NCAA-best 28 points during September and October and tallied points in nine of UW's 10 games. Watts' best game as a Badger came against Penn State when she enjoyed a five-point night (1G-4A).
Campbell started her senior season strong with a 9-0-0 record in net for Wisconsin. Her nine wins and three shutouts led the country. The 2019 NCAA Frozen Four Most Outstanding Performer ranked second in the country in goals-against average with a 0.87 clip while her .944 save percentage ranked in the top 10.
The Badgers' captain, Steffen led all NCAA defensemen with 15 points during September and October thanks to 11 assists and four goals. The Centerville, Minnesota, native also had nine power-play points, which led all NCAA blueliners. Steffen had a career-high night against Ohio State with five points on two goals and three assists, including the game-winning goal against the No. 8 Buckeyes.
The No. 2 Badgers are off from play this weekend before welcoming Minnesota State to LaBahn Arena on Nov. 16-17.
