Badger men and women take third and fifth at NC State GAC Invitational
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wisconsin swimming & diving teams finished up day three of their weekend invitational meet at NC State on Saturday. Amongst competition like NC State, Auburn, Duke, Arizona State, Louisville, and George Washington, the Badger men and women finished third and fifth, respectively.
In the final day of the meet, Wisconsin came through with some big performances from its key swimmers. Senior Beata Nelson blew past the rest of the pack in the 200 Back, touching at 1:49.51 – nearly three second ahead of the second-place finisher, while Nelson's 200 Back counterpart on the men's side, senior Cameron Tysoe, came away third in the event with a time of 1:41.92. Junior MJ Mao added a first-place finish (1:55.55) in the 200 Breast.
From the platforms, the sophomores showed out for the Badgers. On the women's side, Tereza Vithoulkas took the top spot with a final score of 262.45. For the men, Tazman Abramowicz (330.55) came through with a third-place finish.
Nelson finished with the fifth highest individual score among all women at the meet (96), followed by Vithoulkas (82) at the 14 spot and junior Madison Waechter (68) finished 22nd. On the men's side, Tysoe was the highest-placing Badger at 12th overall (80) with Mao (76) close behind at the 18 spot. Abramowicz (73) and junior Wes Jekel (72) finished at 21st and 22nd overall, respectively.
