International tradition continues for Wisconsin men's hockey
MADISON, Wis. – The tradition of Wisconsin men's hockey as a gateway to international hockey success continues as freshman forward Dylan Holloway is one of 31 players invited to Canada's National Junior Team Sport Chek Selection Camp, set for Dec. 9-12 in Oakville, Ontario. The camp will help Canada choose its team to compete in the 2020 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship, which takes place Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in Ostrava and Trinec, Czech Republic.
The Bragg Creek, Alberta, native, is one of 17 forwards invited to the camp.
A top prospect for the 2020 NHL Draft, which takes place June 26-27, 2020, in Montreal, Holloway boasts three goals and seven points in 15 games played this season for the Badgers.
Should Holloway make the Canadian squad, he would become the first Badger to play for Team Canada at the event since defenseman Cody Goloubef won gold at the 2009 championship, one year after Badger forward Kyle Turris helped Canada to gold.
Five Badgers all-time have skated for Team Canada at the world junior championship, and all five have won a medal.
Last year, then-freshman defenseman K'Andre Miller represented Team USA and helped the squad win a silver medal. Miller and others await official announcement of the 2020 squad for Team USA in the coming days.
