Senior also named NCAA Third Star of the Week
MADISON, Wis. – After posting another six-point weekend, Wisconsin women's hockey senior Abby Roque earned a pair of awards Tuesday, as the senior was named the WCHA Forward of the Week and the NCAA Third Star of the Week.
In UW's final 2019 series, the alternate captain collected her 150th point as a Badger while notching two goals and two assists in UW's 4-3 win over UMD Friday night at LaBahn Arena. Roque proceeded to tally two more assists in Saturday night's 5-2 win.Â
Roque's six points topped any WCHA player last week, while her +6 plus rating and points per game (3.00) tied for the best mark by an NCAA skater.
A native of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Roque has moved into 11th place in school history having scored 153 pointa. Her 107 assists rank No. 8 in program history as she became only the eighth Badger to record 100 career assists Nov. 22 during the Badgers' weekend sweep at St. Cloud State.
Roque and the Badgers head on a four-week hiatus before returning in the 2020 year to play in the Battle at the Burgh Jan. 4-5. UW opens the tournament at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania against Robert Morris at 6 p.m. CT on Jan. 4.
