Badgers gear up for Red vs. White Intrasquad Meet
MADISON, Wis. –With championship season right around the corner, the Wisconsin swimming and diving team will host the Red vs. White Intrasquad meet beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the UW Natatorium. Before the Badger-on-Badger battle begins, here are five things to know.Â

1. Red Team: Junior Beata Nelson and sophomore MJ Mao will lead the Red Team as captains, alongside coaches Erik Posegay and Jennah Haney. Nelson and Mao's handpicked team is as follows: Â
Men: Ben Attenberger, Griffin Back, Jared Baetzold, Stephen Boden, Erik Gessner, Eric Geunes, Matthew Hillmer, Michael Milinovich, Frank Niziolek, Ethan O'Neill, Andrew Pearce, Niko Stines and Chris Wills.Â

Women: Kelsi Artim, Claire Birchenough, Savanna Carlson, Isabel Cortina, Kathleen Coughlin, Allison Courtney, Megan Doty, Hazel Hertting, Abby Kochevar, Hannah Lindsey, Molly Manchon, Kendall Smith, Grace Tierney, Carly Townsend, Jess Unicomb and Madison Waechter.

3. Guests of Honor: On Saturday, three of UW's most decorated alumni Carly Piper, Michael Weiss and Drew teDutis will serve team as honorary team captains. Â
An 18-time All-American at UW, Piper helped set a world record in the 200 freestyle relay (7:53.42) with a gold-medal performance at the 2004 Athens Olympics.Â

Weiss won a Big Ten title in the 400 IM (3:39.17) at the 2013 Big Ten Championships and went on to make the 2015 World Championships roster as a member of the U.S. 800 freestyle relay squad.Â

teDutis' career at UW included three Big Ten titles and a 2013 national championship in the 200 back. Â

4 Meet Minutiae: The meet will feature 11 events, including relay and individual races. Each individual can compete in three races – either 2 relays and 1 individual, or 1 relay and 2 individuals – but no less than two. Â
The meet will award 5 points for relay victories and 5-3-1 points for first, second and third place individually. The team with the highest combined score between men and women wins.Â

The meet is free and open to the public, with diving getting underway at 10 a.m. and swimming events beginning at 11 a.m.

5. Road Ahead:Â The Badgers will be back in action for the Big Ten Women's Championships Feb. 20-23 at Indiana, followed by the Big Ten Men's Championships Feb. 27 to March 2 at Iowa.
