ANN ARBOR, Mich. – In their first day at the Power Five Invitational, the Wisconsin women's track and field team made a strong statement in Ann Arbor.
Three Badgers earned personal bests in the women's 600 meters race, including sophomore
Bianca Stubler, who was the runner-up with a personal best time of 1 minute, 32.25 seconds. True freshman
Morgan Parzych also competed in the event, taking tenth place with a personal best time of 1:33.01 while teammate
Haley Lubow took 15th with a PR time of 1:35.54.
In the preliminary round of the 60 meters, senior
Ebony McClendon won her heat, earning a qualifying time of 7.56 to advance to the finals, which are scheduled for tomorrow.
Meagan Blair and freshman
Armoni Brown also competed in the event, with Blair finishing with a time of 7.76 and Brown crossing the line in 7.86.
In the preliminary round of the 60 meter hurdles,
Phoebe Edwards was the first to cross the finish line for Wisconsin. Edwards finished tenth overall with a time of 9.03 seconds.
Kelsey Sullivan and
Jordan Hirsbrunner finished just behind Edwards in 11th and 12th place, respectively. Sullivan finished with a time of 9.04 while Hirsbrunner came through in 9.15.
Kelsey Sullivan also competed in the 800 meters, finishing eighth overall with a time of 2:19.37.
In the throwing ring, senior
Hanna Barton competed in the weight throw, finishing eighth overall with a toss of 54-7 1/2.
Wisconsin will return to the U-M Indoor Track Building on Saturday, February 2 for the conclusion of the Power Five Invitational. Saturday's action begins at 8:30 a.m. (CT) with the heptathlon 60 meter hurdles. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. (CT) with the running events to follow at 11 a.m. Fans can watch the meet live on FloTrack.
