MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin women's golf team will travel to the 2019 Notre Dame Clover Cup this weekend in Mesa, Arizona, March 15-17 at Longbow Golf Club.
Here are five things to know before the team tees off:
1. Last time out: Freshman
Tracy Lee shot an even-par 72 in the final round to pace the Badgers at the Westbrook Spring Invitational, held at the Vistas Course at Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Ariz. Lee was the Badgers' top finisher, with her 54-hole total of 220 (+4) earning her a share of 48th place.
2. Clover Cup Format: The 15-team field, along with individuals, will participate in a 54-hole tournament to be played on the par 72, 6,184-yard course at Longbow. Playing in threesomes, the teams will play 18 holes Friday-Sunday with tee times starting at 8 a.m. (local time). Friday and Saturday's rounds will begin on holes one and 10, with a shotgun start Sunday morning. The low four individual scores will determine the team score for each round.
3. The Pack: UW will travel seniors
Jessica Reinecke,
Tess Hackworthy and Nat Zeng, sophomore
Claire Fitzgerald and freshman
Tracy Lee to this weekend's tournament. Sophomore
Mackenzie Hahn will play as an individual.
4. The Opposition: The Badgers will take on host Notre Dame, Cincinnati, FIU, Houston, IUPUI, Kansas State, Kentucky, Mercer, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, UNCG, USC and Western Carolina.
5. First Time for Everything: UW will make its first-ever appearance at the Notre Dame Clover Cup this weekend. 2019 will mark the eighth year of the tournament hosted by the Fighting Irish. This is, however, the second of three straight tournaments for the Badgers in Arizona.
