STANFORD, Calif. – The Wisconsin men's track and field team will send their distance athletes to California this weekend to compete at the prestigious Stanford Invitational on Friday, March 29.
Action for Wisconsin at the Stanford Invitational will start at 9:06 p.m. (CT) with the invitational section of the 1500 meters.

1. AZTEC INVITE RECAP: In their outdoor season opener, the Wisconsin men's track and field team started off on a high note, earning PR's across the board and notching two event wins at the Aztec Invitational in San Diego. Junior
Rashid Coulibaly started off the season with a win, taking the pole vault title after clearing a height of 17 feet, 1 1/2 inches. Freshman
Robby Hatch also secured a victory in the open section of the 400 meter hurdles, crossing the line in 53.28 to mark his first win as a Badger.Â
2. LAST YEAR AT STANFORD: At last year's Stanford Invitational, the Badgers sent four men to compete in the 10,000 meters, where all four runners earned massive personal bests in the event and finished within the top-25.
Zack Snider finished 11th overall with Ben Eidenschink and
Tyson Miehe taking 14th and 19th, respectively.
Zack Benning came through in fourth for UW, taking a 25th-place finish in the stacked event.Â
3. ALJABALY TAKES AARHUS: In addition to the Badgers competing in California, freshman
Shuaib Aljabaly will be racing as a member of the U.S. U20 men's team at the 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Aarhus, Denmark. Aljabaly punched his ticket to the international meet back in February when he won the junior national title at the U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida.Â
4. IN THE RANKINGS: Following their fourth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships, the Wisconsin men's track and field team is currently ranked No. 10 in the nation by FloTrack. In addition, the men's team is also currently ranked 14th in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association Preseason Poll. The Wisconsin men are the highest ranking Big Ten team in both polls.

5. UP NEXT: Following the Stanford Invitational, the Badgers will head to Tempe, Arizona for the Sun Angel Classic. Hosted by Arizona State University, the Sun Angel Classic will take place on Friday, April 5th and Saturday, April 6th.
