Wisconsin takes down Nebraska 6-1 in conference opener

Box Score MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin (7-3, 1-0 B1G) men's tennis team shook off its last two matches like they didn't even exist on Friday night at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

The Badgers swiftly dismissed Nebraska (7-7, 0-1 B1G) in their Big Ten opener, 6-1.

Wisconsin moves to 10-0 on the season in the team doubles point. Again, it set the precedent against the Cornhuskers on Friday.

The No. 29-ranked pair, senior Osgar O'Hoisin and freshman Jared Pratt rolled Toby Boyer and William Gleason, 6-3 to secure the first tally. A brand-new duo, sophomore Jesper Freimuth and freshman Daniel Nuzhny, secured the win for Wisconsin by a 6-3 decision.

Freimuth translated his swagger from doubles to singles, where he clinched the match for the Cardinal and White. The Berlin, German, native, stayed so tough through a three-set thriller until the bitter end. Freimuth beat Nebraska's No. 2 player, Micah Klousia, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.

Westerman's Wing:
Head coach Danny Westerman
"We're playing great doubles. We are great teammates. We love to get fired up together. We had a new team at the No. 3 spot. Nuzhny played great and Jesper was a great teammate – he really helped him get comfortable.

Really nice to finally win some 50-50 sets, 50-50 tiebreakers that haven't been going our way. That is why we were able to come out with a win today. Really good for our guys. Very pleased with the win."

Up Next: Wisconsin has a huge match on Sunday at noon, when they host the Border Battle against the No. 16-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers.
