Wisconsin women’s track and field team heads to Pennsylvania
PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – The Wisconsin women's track and field team will head east for the first time this season to complete in the Penn Relays, which start on Thursday at Franklin Field and conclude on Saturday.Â
The Penn Relays will be broadcast live on USATF.TV. In addition, fans can follow along on Twitter (@BadgerTrackXC) and can catch a recap following the meet on UWBadgers.com.
1. Historic Hirsbrunner: Competing in her first collegiate heptathlon, Jordan Hirsbrunner etched her name into the Wisconsin Badgers history book. Scoring 5,369 points across the five events, she now has the seventh highest score in Badger track history.
2. Distance runner's delight: Lucinda Crouch competed in her first outdoor collegiate meet and also rewrote the history book. She participated in her first ever steeplechase, finishing in 10 minutes, 22.14 seconds, good for fifth best in school history.
3. We bELIeve: At the 11th annual Buckingham Awards, Amy Davis was one of two students honored with the Eli Stickley BELIeve Aware. This award is given to students similar Eli Stickley by being disciplined, loving, loyal, passionate, and an uplifting, selfless leader.
4. Straight A's: Also at the Buckingham awards, Gabby DesRosiers and Emma Langer received high honors. DesRosiers earned the Academic Momentum Award. Langer had the highest GPA in both cross country and track and field, earning her a spot on the Athletic Board Scholars and was also named to the National Student Athlete Honor Society, Chi Alpha Sigma.
5. Home track advantage: The Badgers return home on Friday, May 3 to host the Wisconsin Alumni Classic. This will be the Badgers final home meet for the seniors and the last meet before championship season kicks off.
