Badgers run top-10 marks in 4x400, distance medley relay

PHILADELPHIA – In its first day of competition at the Penn Relays, the Wisconsin women's track and field team set the tone for the weekend early with a pair of program top-10 times on Thursday.

In the 4x400 meter relay, the quartet of Bianca Stubler, Gabby DesRosiers, Ebony McClendon and Haley Lubow inched their way closer to a school record. The UW quartet finished in three minutes, 42.57 seconds, moving them up to third best in school-history.

This group already owns Wisconsin's indoor 4x400 record, after breaking it at the 2019 Big Ten Indoor Championships.

The 4x400 relay squad qualified for the college final of the event on Saturday at 1:07 p.m. CT that can be seen live on NBCSN.

The women's distance medley relay also put on a show at the first day of competition. Amy Davis started things off, running the 1200 meter leg in 3:28.55. Davis handed the baton off to Morgan Parzych, who ran her 400 meters in a stifling 55.51seconds. Next up, freshman Madison Mooney took over for the 800 meter leg, and finished in 2:09.35. Finally, Alissa Niggemann ran her mile in 4 minutes, 37.99 seconds.

The quartet took seventh in the meet, and moved up to sixth place in school history with a final time of 11:11.39.

In the long jump, Armoni Brown took seventh place with an 18 foot, 9 1/4 inch leap while Meagan Blair finished in ninth place with an 18-7 1/4 jump.

Haley Lubow and Bianca Stubler continued their day in the 400 meter hurdles. Lubow took 14th place with a time of 1:01.33. Stubler finished the event in 19th place with a time of 1:02.10.

In the women's 4x100 relay, the team of Stubler, Gabby DesRosiers, Ebony McClendon and Lubow just missed out on advancing to a final, crossing the line in 46.57.

Action for the Wisconsin women's track and field team continues tomorrow at 12:15 p.m. CT when they are slated to compete in the 4x1500 meter relay.
