5 Things to Know: Silverado Showdown

Badgers take on top competition in West Coast clash
MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin women's golf team travels to Napa, California for the Silverado Showdown, April 7-9, at The North Course at Silverado Resort.
Here are five things to know before the showdown:
1. Last time out: Senior Nat Zeng had an excellent showing at the MountainView Collegiate, March 22-24, scoring a 72-71-71= 214 (-2) to earn a share of 15th place individually. That is Zeng's' personal best in terms of both finish and 54-hole score during her career at UW.
2. Napa Valley: Established around a landmark mansion, built in 1870 in the hills of Napa Valley, Silverado is one of the oldest golf clubs in Northern California. The estate has entertained presidents hosted numerous PGA TOUR events that have featured legends such as Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and Arnold Palmer. Redesigned in 2011, the PGA TOUR will play Silverado's North Course for the next five years with the Safeway Open.
3. Traveling Badgers: Seniors Nat Zeng and Jess Reinecke, junior Tess Hackworthy and freshmen Tracy Lee and Gabrielle Tomeo will represent UW out west.
4. West Coast Competition: Wisconsin takes on a large field of California, Colorado, Colorado State, Iowa State, Northwestern, New Mexico, Oregon, Pepperdine, San Diego State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Southern California, Stanford, UCLA, UNLV, Washington and Washington State.
5. Thoughts from Coach Oehrlein:
"We played more consistently in our last 2 events and look to continue to improve in the areas we've been focusing on."
"Silverado is a fantastic golf course and it is always a great test. Position off the tee is so important throughout the golf course.We need to take advantage of the par 5's as well."
