Record setting relays: Wisconsin women mark names in school history

On the second day of competition, Wisconsin relays stand out

TEMPE, Ariz. – On the final day of competition at the Sun Andel Classic, the Wisconsin women's track and field team brought home top ten finishes and new school records.
 
In the 4x100 meter relay, Meagan Blair, Gabby DesRosiers, Armoni Brown and Ebony McClendon left their mark in Wisconsin's record book with a fourth place finish. Completing the relay in just 45.71 seconds, the quartet put themselves at No. 3 in school history.
 
The relay team kept the record setting going into the 4x400. Gabby DesRosiers, Morgan Parzych, Haley Lubow and Bianca Stubler finished in ninth place on the day. They ran the 1600 meters in 3 minutes, 44.46 seconds, good for ninth in school history.
 
Rayce Albino, indoor pole vault runner up in the Big Ten, took second place at the prestigious Sun Angel Classic. Albino cleared 13 feet, 1 ¾ inches, which is her second best clearance of the season.
 
Not only did Gabby DesRosiers etched her name onto two school records today, but she also had a top-three finish in the 400 meters. The Chicago born sprinter dashed around the track in 55.40 seconds. Morgan Parzych, whose high school was also competing at the meet, took 13thplace in the event with a time of 56.73 seconds.
                
Armoni Brown leaped to a fourth place finish in the premier long jump. Brown set a collegiate personal best with a 19 feet, 2 inch jump.
 
Meagan Blair jumped her way to two top-ten finishes at the Sun Angel Classic. Blair took sixth place in long jump with an 18-10 ½ jump. She also earned herself a fourth place triple jump with a personal best leap of 40-4 ¾.
 
Banke Oginni was impressive in the premier shot put event. The indoor national qualifier took fourth place with a 52 foot, 11 inch toss.
 
In the 400 meter hurdles, Bianca Stubler leaped her way to a seventh place finish thanks to a personal best, 1 minutes, 1.86 second time.
 
Hanna Barton was stellar in the premier discus event. The McFarland native took eighth place with a toss just shy of a personal best. She threw the disc 169 feet and 7 inches.
 
Three Badger sprinters finished in a row in the 100 meters. Armoni Brown ran her first collegiate outdoor sprint and finished in tenth place in 12.24 seconds. Hannah Wilson finished just behind her in 11th with a 12.31 mark. Meagan Blair came in 12th place with a 12.31 time.
 
Freshman mid-distance runner, Danielle Bellino saw her first collegiate outdoor action at the Sun Angel Classic. She took 12th place in the 800 meters with a 2:13.01 time.
 
The field was crowded with Badgers as four of them were competing in javelin. Annika Cederstrand was the top Wisconsin finisher as she threw 142 feet, 8 inches, good for 13th place. Kelsey Sullivan threw 124-9 and finished in 22nd. Jordan Hirsbrunner and Phoebe Edwards finished in 24th and 27th respectively.
 
Finally, in the 100 meter hurdles, Jordan Hirsbrunner leaped to a 30th place finish with a 14.81 second time. Kelsey Sullivan also competed and took 38th, finishing in 15.19 seconds.
 
The Wisconsin women's track team has off next weekend but will compete on April 17th at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
