Seth Gross to transfer to Wisconsin

2018 National Champion will join the Badgers in the fall
Seth Gross, the 2018 National Champion at 133 pounds, will transfer to Wisconsin for the 2019-20 school year as a graduate student. Gross was a two-time NCAA finalist and two-time All-American for Badgers' head coach Chris Bono and associate head coach Jon Reader at South Dakota State.Â
Gross became the first Jackrabbit student-athlete at the Division I level to win an individual national title after he ended his 2018 season with a 29-1 overall record. Twelve of his 29 victories in 2018 were by fall and seven by tech fall. Gross, a Hodge Trophy finalist, was a two-time Big 12 Conference Champion at 133 pounds and the Big 12 Conference Wrestler of the Year in 2017-18.
"I am extremely happy for Seth and his family. Having to sit out a year due to surgery and deciding to compete again after graduation is not an easy thing to do," Bono said. "He is a National Champion on the mat, and a better person off. He is a natural leader who will make everyone around him better. He has been accepted into grad school and will pursue a supply chain management master's program."
