EVANSTON, Ill. – The Wisconsin men's soccer team competed in the first of two games in the Lakeside Classic. The Badgers (1-2-0) faced off against Bowling Green (2-0-1) in a Friday night match on a neutral site and lost 1-0 in a defensive battle.
Â
The first half was scoreless for both teams. The Badgers recorded two shots and senior goalkeeper
Dean Cowdroy recorded three saves to shutout the Falcons in the first 45 minutes.
Â
It wasn't until late in the second half where the Falcons put up a score. In the 81st minute of the game, Bowling Green earned a corner kick. The corner was put into play and bounced around for a score with little time for the Badgers to return the favor.
Â
With an additional two shots in the second half, Wisconsin totaled four shots for the night. Two of these shots on goal were from captain and midfielder
Noah Leibold, who continues to be an offensive threat to Badger opponents.
Â
Wisconsin looks to redeem themselves in their second game of the Lakeside Classic this Sunday. The Badgers will play Lehigh in a 12 p.m. (CT) game in hopes of leaving this road trip with a split.
