Badgers record personal bests at Music City Challenge and Husky Classic

Distance runners shine in Seattle
MADISON, Wis. -- The 23rd-ranked Wisconsin women's track and field team set nine personal bests on the first day of competition at the Music City Challenge in Nashville and at the Husky Classic in Seattle on Friday.
On the track, senior Gabby DesRosiers was the top Badger, crossing in 24.73 seconds for 12th place. Two other Badgers ran personal bests in the sprint. Freshman Melissa Symons finished 25th in 25.33 and senior Haley Lubow took 30th in 25.54.
Fifth-year senior Amy Davis ran a personal best in the 5,000 meters while competing unattached. The Madison native finished fourth in 15:42.98, nearly a two-second improvement. Former Badger Gwen Jorgensen, who is attempting to qualifying for the 2020 Olympics in the marathon, finished sixth in 15:47.20. Redshirt junior Ann Heuerman also ran a personal best of 16:58.74 to finish 51st.
The Badgers wrap up their weekend of competition at both meets on Saturday.

Three personal bests set in Nashville
Redshirt freshman Olivia Roberts continues to update her personal best in the weight throw, taking 14th today with a toss of 57- feet, 10 1/2 inches. In the 3,000 meters at the Husky Classic, five Badgers set personal bests. Redshirt junior Alissa Niggemann was the top UW runner, crossing in 27th place in 9:21.97 while competing unattached. Sophomore Lucinda Crouch crossed in 9:28.99 to finish 36th. Three freshmen also ran personal bests as Alexa Westley finished 46th in 9:37.26 while redshirt freshman Peyton Sippy took 53rd in 9:42.75.
