Badgers defeated by No. 14 South Carolina, 4-1
MADISON, Wis. – After facing some of the top teams in the country, the Wisconsin men's tennis team left it all on the court during the third day of the ITA National Championships.
Wisconsin (7-6) claimed the doubles point, but singles play was dominated by No. 14 South Carolina (6-3) as USC earned a 4-1 win on Sunday.
The duo of Martim Vilela and Robert Krill stepped up to the plate in third doubles, defeating Paul Jubb and Beau Pelletier in a 6-4 win. This marks their first doubles win this spring season. But it wasn't until Chase Colton and Jared Pratt's tiebreaker against Raphael Lambling and Daniel Rodriguez in first doubles that secured the doubles point for the Badgers.
Wisconsin was amped up moving into singles play, ready to face three more nationally ranked players. Jared Pratt and Robin Parts both had opportunities playing three sets, but the Badgers fell short in the third. Krill held the lead, 4-1, in his third set, but his match went unfinished.
UP NEXT: The Badgers have a three-week break before they return to Nielsen Tennis Stadium on Friday, March 6 when Wright State comes to Madison.
