Wisconsin extends seven-match win streak
RICHMOND, Va. – The No. 21 Wisconsin women's tennis team extended its win streak to seven after defeating the VCU Rams on the road Friday afternoon, 4-2.
Things started out well for the Badgers and only continued. Wisconsin earned the doubles point early on in the match with the senior duo of Melissa Pick and Christina Zordani clinching the point with a 6-3 doubles victory in the No. 3 spot.
Sophomore Ava Markham bounced off her doubles win, with her partner Miruna Tudor, and sped her way through No. 3 singles play. She made quick work of her VCU opponent winning in the first set winning, 6-2, and then fought off the VCU comeback winning her second set 7-6.
Freshman Xinyu Cai clinched the match for the Badgers in the No. 2 singles spot, fighting off the comeback from her VCU opponent and winning 7-5, 6-4, 6-1.
