MADISON, Wis. - It's indoor championship season already! The Wisconsin women's track and field team are headed to Geneva, Ohio, to compete in the Big Ten Indoor Championships on Feb. 28-29 with the NCAA Indoor Championships to follow for qualifiers March 13-14. Twenty three women will be competing for the Badgers at Big Tens. Events begin Friday at 10:50 a.m. ET with the pentathlon 60-meter hurdles and Saturday with the women's high jump at 11 a.m. ET.

1. LAST TIME OUT: It was a weekend of Big Ten prep and rest for many Badgers. The distance medley relay competed at the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame, edging out Michigan to win in 11 minutes, 5.27 seconds and move to second on Wisconsin's all-time top performers list. Madison Mooney ran the opening 1,200 meters in 3:26.7, Gabby DesRosiers followed with a 53.7 leg in the 400 meters, Bianca Stubler ran the 800 meters in 2:11.9 and Alicia Monson ran the 1,600 meters in 4:33.2. At the Panther Tune-Up in Milwaukee, Olivia Roberts won the weight throw with a personal best toss of 60 feet, 3 inches. Chloe Lindeman competed unattached finishing second in the weight throw at 59-5 1/2 and won the shot put with a throw of 47-2 1/2
2. SCHOOL RECORD WATCH: Keep an eye on four school records this weekend. Destiny Huven sits only .07 seconds behind the 60-meter hurdles record, the 4x400-meter relay is currently less than two seconds behind the school record, Josie Schaefer only sits behind Kelsey Card on Wisconsin's all-time top indoor performers list and the DMR is only five seconds off of the school record set in 2019.
3. 2019 CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP: The Badgers placed fourth at the 2019 Big Ten Indoor Championships lead by five top-three finishes. Alicia Monson won the 3000 and 5000 meters with Amy Davis right behind, placing second in the 5000 meters. Rayce Albino took second in the pole vault and the 4x400-meter relay of Lubow, DesRosiers, Stubler and Ebony McClendon placed second while breaking the school record. Â
4. RANKED BADGERS: The USTFCCCA released week five of the national and regional coaches poll this week, placing Wisconsin at No. 6 in the Great Lakes Regional. Three Badgers are ranked in the top 20 in the country for their respective events. Alicia Monson has the second fastest time in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:53.69 and is ranked No. 23 in the country for the mile in 4:38.13. Josie Schaefer ranks No. 10 in the shot put with a throw of 56-6 3/4, improving her personal best by more than four feet this season. Jordan Hirsbrunner ranks No. 17 in the pentathlon with a score of 3,994 points.Â
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers are hoping to have multiple NCAA Indoor Championships qualifers to head to the NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuqerque, New Mexico on March 13-14.Â
