1. FABULOUS FRESHMEN: The freshman made a standout debut at the Badger Icebreaker last week, when they won five of the seven total events for the Badgers. This weekend we'll find out if this class can repeat and add to the impact they had last weekend.
Â
2. AMUSAN WINS TWO: Sam Amusan was the only double-event winner at the Badger Icebreaker last week, winning the 60 meters in 6.83 seconds and the 300 meters in 32.25. Can he do it again? Amusan will compete in the 60 and 200 meters this weekend. He is ranked ninth in the Big Ten in the 60 meters, trailing teammate LO Johnson, who won his semifinal of the 60 meters in 6.82. Both will have competition this weekend from Minnesota's Kion Benjamin (6.73), Iowa's Austin Kreley (6.73), and Nebraska's Matthew Brown (6.79) and Chris Ramsey (6.80).
Â
3. HASSAN AND THE HALF MILE: Freshman Abdullahi Hassan won the 600 meters at the Badger Icebreaker last weekend in a Big Ten-best time of 1:18.11. His time also ranks eighth on the Wisconsin all-time indoor record list. This weekend, Hassan will move up to the 800 meters, competing against teammates Ansel Fellman, Nick Hruskoci, Hudson Kugel, Austin Rendon and Tannor Wagner.
4. 60-METER HURDLERS FACE TOUGH FIELD: One of the top events to watch this weekend will the 60-meter hurdles where 10 of the top-20 athletes in the Big Ten so far this season will be in competition. He will be joined by freshmen Cade Amborn, Max Herkert, Quinn Lansill and Davis Wenthe.
5. THROWING THEIR WEIGHT AROUND:Â Dan Ufearo and Cole Hooper look to continue to improve in the weight throw where they both threw personal bests last weekend.
