Five athletes to watch: Illinois B1G Multis

5 athletes will travel to compete in the heptathlon and pentathlon in Illinois this weekend
MADISON, Wis. - Five members of the Wisconsin men's and women's track and field teams -- Cade Amborn, Max Herkert, Quinn Lansill, Jordan Hirsbrunnner and Mackenzie Heyroth -- travel to Champaign, Illinois, to compete in the Illini B1G Multis on Friday and Saturday at the University of Illinois. Hirsbrunner and Heyroth compete in the women's pentathlon while Amborn, Herkert and Lansill compete in the men's heptathlon. The first four events of the heptathlon begin at 1 p.m. on Friday while the pentatlon starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Day two of the heptathlon starts at noon on Saturday.Â

1. CADE AMBORN: Redshirt sophomore Cade Amborn has competed in the heptathlon twice during his career as a Badger. Amborn ended with a personal best score of 5,037 points, which placed him 10th at the 2020 Big Ten Indoor Championships. The Bangor, Wisconsin, native enters the meet with the second-best mark behind Nebraska's Zach Prodraza, who enters with a previous score of 5408 points.
2. MAX HERKERT: Sophomore Max Herkert has also competed in the heptathlon twice during his career as a Badger. Herkert sits on a personal record score of 4646 points, which he secured with a 13th-place finish at the 2020 Big Ten Indoor Championships. The Verona, Wisconsin native enters the meet sitting at No.6, 50 points away from Illinois' Aiden Ouimet, who sits at No.5 entering the meet with 4,696 points.
3. QUINN LANSILL: Freshman Quinn Lansill will make his Badger debut in the heptathlon this weekend. The Brooklyn, New York, native competed in the pentathlon during his high school career.
4. JORDAN HIRSBRUNNER: Redshirt junior Jordan Hirsbrunner is now a vet for the Badgers in the pentathlon. Hirsbrunner placed sixth in the pentathlon with a personal record score of 4045 points at the 2020 Big Ten Indoor Championships, which landed her a No.6 spot on the Wisconsin all-time indoor performance list. The Monroe, Wisconsin, native enters the meet in the top spot, more than 100 points ahead of Iowa's Tionna Tobias, who sits in the No.2 spot.
5. MACKENZIE HEYROTH: Sophomore Mackenzie Heyroth will compete in the pentathlon for the second time ever as a Badger. Heyroth finished with a score of 3341 points at the Jack Johnson Classic last year, which places her at No.8 coming into the meet on Friday.
