Badgers return to Madison for second home series of the season

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin is on the hunt to continue its undefeated season after sweeping Minnesota Duluth on the road last weekend. This weekend, the top-ranked team returns to LaBahn to host No. 2 Ohio State. Saturday puck drop is set for 2 p.m. while Sunday's game will begin at 3 p.m.

Fans who are unable to make it to LaBahn can listen to Reid Magnum and Mark Greenhalgh call both games on U100.9FM. Saturday's game will also be available on BTN+ while Sunday's game will be aired on the Big Ten Network. Sloane Martin and Annie Pankowski, a co-captain of the 2019 NCAA Championship team, will be on the call on UW's first regular-season BTN home game since the start of the 2015 season.

Parking will be free for both games this weekend in Lot 91.

1. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers traveled to Duluth over the weekend to sweep the Bulldogs. Wisconsin shutout then-ranked No. 7 Minnesota Duluth 3-0 on Friday and won 5-4 in overtime on Sunday. Nicole LaMantia, Sophie Shirley, Makenna Webster and Sarah Wozniewicz all had multi-point games over the weekend. Webster and Wozniewicz had multi-goal games. Goaltender Kennedy Blair put up 24 stops in Friday's game to record her fourth shutout of the season.

2. CLEANING UP THE WCHA HONORS: Senior Nicole LaMantia earned WCHA Defender of the Week after putting up a multi-point game on Sunday with one goal and one assist. During the game, she recorded her 50th career point. This is the Wayne, Illinois native's second career WCHA weekly honor.

3. WEBSTER'S WAY: Sophomore Makenna Webster continues to lead the NCAA in points. She has 21 so far this season with eight goals and 13 assists. The St.Louis, Missouri native has had seven multi-point games, including two multi-goal games. In second for the nation is Colgate's Danielle Serdachny with 19 points. Wisconsin teammate Daryl Watts is tied with Colgate's Kalty Kaltounkova for third with 18 points.

4. TOP-TWO TILT: No. 1 Wisconsin is facing No. 2 Ohio State for a top-two tilt at home. The Badgers are an undefeated 8-0-0 to start the season while the Buckeyes are an undefeated 6-0-0. Overall, Wisconsin leads Ohio State 73-17-10 and 31-6-7 at LaBahn. Wisconsin has four players in the nation's top-10 for scoring while Ohio State's top scorers are Jenna Buglioni and Jennifer Gardiner who are tied for 11th with 11 points. The pair is tied for the WCHA lead in league games with 11 points through six league games.
5. PROTECT HOME ICE: The Badgers have been stellar at LaBahn Arena since the rink opened in 2012 as UW has a 135-14-7 record at the state-of-the-art facility. Eighty-seven games at the rink have been sold out, including all 21 home games during the 2019-20 season. Since the start of the 2015-16 season, UW is an incredible 84-4-4 at LaBahn Arena  with two of the four setbacks during that run and three of the four ties coming at the hands of the Buckeyes.
