On the championship eight
"Back in the day there were, the championships eight, there were 40 or 50 entries. Now there somewhere under 20. I think what has happened is they've all migrated to the collegiate eight because they feel like they have no chance in the championships eight, but not us. We're there.
"Our objective for the eight was to get out and go as hard as we could for as long as we could. We need to learn how to do that. We were eighth at the first mark which was excellent and from there we went slower in the middle of the race. They're obviously disappointed, they want to keep that top-10 going.
"The teams we're racing against are all good. I think it bodes fairly well for the spring. Got to have speed. If you don't have speed, you don't have a chance. If you can generate any speed at the beginning of the race it's good, even if you pay the price.
"We had five novices out of the eight - kids who learned to row at Wisconsin in that boat - which my guess is in all those top boats, not one novice. It's not an easy way to do it, but it's satisfying when you get results."
On the championship four
"The four did okay I felt. They kind of had a rough week, but it looked okay. They just need to get after it a little harder."
On next week
"I'm really looking forward to two weeks from now, the Princeton Chase."
