BLOOMINGTON, IND. – Wisconsin men's soccer battled to the last possible period of play, but fell to Indiana, 1-0, after a golden goal in double overtime.
Â
The match was originally slated to begin at 12 p.m. CT, but rain showers and wet field conditions moved it three hours later.
Â
The delay did not faze UW, as they had two corner opportunities in the first half and three shots on goal. Two of those chances went to
Inaki Iribarren.
Â
The IU attack picked up in the second, but sophomore
Carter Abbott made a nice save in the 85th minute to keep the game scoreless.
Â
Early in the second overtime, Wisconsin had two good set piece chances to score, but Indiana ended up pulling off the late golden goal victory.
Â
Next up for UW is Senior Day at McClimon Soccer Complex when they face Penn State on Sunday. Kickoff for the regular-season finale is set for 12 p.m. and admission is free.
