CHAMPAIGN, Illinois – Wisconsin women's soccer extended its unbeaten streak against Illinois to nine games thanks to a 1-1 draw on Friday night in Champaign, Illinois.
After falling down 1-0 to the Fighting Illini (5-7-1, 1-4-1) early in the first half, the Badgers (7-3-4, 2-2-2) bounced back and leveled the game at 1-1 thanks to
Cammie Murtha's first goal of the season in the 23rd minute off a touch from
Natalie Viggiano.
The Badgers' best chance of the second half came in the 85th minute, but
Claire Odmark's shot was saved and the game went into overtime.
In the extra time period,
Jordyn Bloomer made one of the most critical saves of her career, as she tipped shot that almost clinched the match for the Illini at the end of the first overtime.
