ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Wisconsin men's soccer came up short against fourth-seeded Michigan in the quarterfinals of the 2021 Big Ten Tournament, 2-1, on Sunday.
The two programs came out of the first half scoreless with the Wolverines outshooting the visitors, 9-1.
UM had two chances late in the opening period, but
Adir Raphael stopped both attempts.
Wisconsin took control in the second half with a 50th minute strike from
Tim Bielic. Senior
Ben Leas had an assist on the score.

The Badgers could not slow down Michigan's shot attempts though. Raphael picked up a pair of saves after the initial strike, but the Wolverines scored off their sixth corner kick chance in the 64th minute.
The home team continued to play aggressive and were able to connect on a cross in the 75th minute to take the lead.
UW would only have one shot attempt after Michigan took the lead. It came off their only corner kick attempt in the game when
Inaki Iribarren grazed the cross bar and the ball went out securing UM possession and taking them to the next round of the tournament.
On the corner, it appeared a Wolverine player hit the ball with their hand, but it was not ruled a hand ball.
Wisconsin finishes out the season with a record of 7-7-3, which included three victories over ranked opponents, and allowing only 13 goals over 17 contests.
