Ben Street named to Team Canada for 2021 Channel One Cup

2006 NCAA champ sets foot on the international stage
MADISON, Wis. — Former Badger and 2006 NCAA champion Ben Street will lace up with Team Canada at the 2021 Channel One Cup in Moscow.
Street, who currently skates with EHC Müchen of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, spent five seasons at UW from 2005-10 and served as captain his senior campaigns. He helped the Badgers win the national title as a freshman, notching nine goals and five assists for 14 points his rookie year. He received Academic All-Big Ten and All-WCHA honors from 2007-10.
After his collegiate career, Street embarked on a series of stints in the AHL, ECHL and NHL despite being passed over in the NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut in 2013 with the Calgary Flames. Street also skated for the Colorado Avalanche, Detroit Red Wings, Anaheim Ducks and New Jersey Devils.
Street won the AHL's Calder Cup with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the Red Wings' organization in 2017, serving as an alternate captain. He was also named the ECHL's rookie of the year in 2011.
Street previously represented his country at the 2004 Under-17 World Hockey Cup where he helped Team Canada to a silver medal.
Team Canada opened up the Channel One Cup on Wednesday, Dec. 15 with a match against host-nation Russia, followed by a contest against Sweden before closing out the tournament against Finland on Dec. 18.
