Badgers announce 2022 spring campaign

UW opens the season on Feb. 10 vs. Kentucky in Florida
MADISON, Wis. – With the new year approaching, it means that softball season is also coming up as the Wisconsin softball team has announced its schedule for the 2022 spring season.
The Badgers will face 12 teams that competed at the 2021 NCAA Division I Softball Championship and will face 10 of those 12 teams during the first two weekends of the season.
"What a great spring schedule we've put together for Wisconsin softball this season," head coach Yvette Healy said. "Opening weekend we'll match up with three sweet 16/Super Regional teams, playing Kentucky, Missouri and Virginia Tech. All eyes will be on the Badgers as we help represent the Big Ten at ESPN's prestigious St. Pete Clearwater Invitational. We'll play powerhouse teams including UCLA, Auburn, Clemson, Notre Dame, University of Central Florida and South Florida. We'll finish our spring travel with a three-game series at Pac-12 rival, Utah. Our Big Ten schedule feature home series against Michigan, Nebraska, Michigan State and Indiana."
UW opens the season on Thursday, Feb. 10 against Kentucky in the Artic Blast Off game at the Northern Lights Tournament in Leesburg, Florida. UW will go on to face Eastern Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Missouri and UConn during the opening tournament.
UW returns to the Sunshine State the following weekend for the St. Pete Clearwater Elite Invitational Presented by Wilson, Feb. 17-20. The Badgers will face UCF, Notre Dame, Auburn, Clemson, UCLA and USF while the Badgers' game against UCF will air on ESPNU.
After a weekend off of competition, the Badgers will head west for 13 games as the Badgers will take part in the Colorado State/Northern Colorado Tournament March 4-6, the Dixie State Tournament March 11-13 before facing Utah in a road series on March 15-16.
Big Ten play begins on March 25 at Iowa with a three-game set against the Hawkeyes, while the Badgers will open their home slate with a three-game series on April 1 against Indiana at Goodman Diamond.
The series against Indiana is one of five home series in Madison as the Badgers will host Green Bay in a doubleheader on April 12, Michigan State in three-game series April 15-17, Nebraska in a three-game set April 22-24 and Michigan for three games May 6-8.
This year's Big Ten Tournament will take place May 11-14 in East Lansing, Michigan while the NCAA tournament will begin a week later.
