Kenosha, Wis.— No. 16 Wisconsin took a quick bus trip to Kenosha, Wisconsin, to compete in the Jim Koch Wisconsin Open on Saturday. Nine Badgers competed unattached, four of which placed. 

True freshman Graham Calhoun (174 pounds) and junior Peter Christensen (285) led the way for the Badgers with each bringing home second-place finishes in their respective weight classes. Calhoun won by decision two times, taking down Ryan Vedner of Wisconsin-Whitewater (5-3) and Cody Everhart of Maryville University (6-2). Christensen won all three of his matches by fall — pinning Max Villnow of Minnesota State Mankato in 0:29, Greyson Stevens of Northern Illinois in 0:32 and Tristan Ruhlman of Purdue in 1:18.

Sophomores Josh Otto (165) and Kevin Meicher (165) also placed for the Badgers. Otto placed fourth, with his first match of the day being a major decision win over Hayden Krein of Wisconsin-Whitewater (12-3). Otto then continued to win the next four matches, all by decision, landing him a fourth-place finish in a competitive weight class. Meicher, who competed in the same weight class as Otto, had two major decision wins during the first two matches he competed in. Meicher took down Crosby Schlosser of UW-Parkside (13-0) and Cole Ritter Maryville University (12-3). Meicher medically forfeited the rest of the matches.
