Cai earns national ranking for singles from ITA

Junior ranked No. 59 by Intercollegiate Tennis Association
MADISON, Wis. — Xinyu Cai will begin the spring season ranked among the nation's best, according to Division I Women's National Rankings announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Wednesday.
Cai checked in at No. 59 in the country on the ITA's national rankings, which feature the Top 125 singles players and Top 60 doubles teams.
Emerging as the top singles player for Wisconsin last season, Cai compiled a 12-6 record before her year was cut short due to injury. The junior from China competed at the prestigious ITA All-American Championships earlier this season in Charleston, South Carolina. The event featured the nation's top NCAA Division I players, as determined by national and regional rankings.
The Badgers are set to resume competition Jan. 15-17, 2022 when they compete at the Northwestern Fall Invitational in Evanston, Illinois. UW is then scheduled to host its first home event of the season in Madison on Jan. 27, 2022 welcoming TCU to Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
