Badgers head to Iowa City for Hawkeye B1G Invitational

IOWA CITY, IA.-- The Wisconsin men's track and field team heads to Iowa City Iowa, to compete in the two-day Hawkeye B1G Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Friday's events begin at 1 p.m. with the field events followed by the track events beginning at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, field events start at noon and track events start at 12:30 p.m. The Badgers face off against Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and Purdue at the invitational.
This is the final stretch for the Badgers before the Big Ten Indoor Championships next week.Â

1. AMUSAN IN A SPEEDY 60: Fast freshman Sam Amusan will compete in the 60-meter dash for the first time since his debut at the Badger Invitational in mid-January. He is currently ranked No. 11 in the Big Ten with a time of 6.83 seconds and will face four of the top-10 runners in the Big Ten this season. Amusan will race in the preliminaries on Friday at 5:20 p.m. with the final scheduled for later in the evening. Â
2. TRIO OF BADGERS IN THE 600: Senior Austin Rendon made a big statement last week at the Hoosier Hills Invitational where he finished third in the 800 meters in 1:51.26. Rendon currently ranks third in the Big Ten in that event and will turn his attention to the 600 meters this weekend. He will be joined in the race by fellow Badgers Colin Enz, who ranks 10th in the Big Ten in 1:19.53, and Davis Wenthe, who ranks 17th in 1:20.45. The event is set for Saturday at 1:25 p.m.
3. MARK YOUR MILE:Â Five Badgers are schedule to run the mile this weekend, including fourth-place finisher at the Big Ten Cross Country Championships Jackson Sharp. No Badgers has run a mile yet this season so Sharp along with Rendon, Ansel Fellman, Nick Hruskoci, and Tannor Wagner are scheduled to compete. The race will take off Friday at 6:30 p.m.
4. 3K AWAY: Five of Wisconsin's best will race in the 3000 meters. Shuaib Aljabaly, Olin Hacker, Rowen Ellenberg, Bob Liking, Jack Meijer, and Charlie Wheeler will take flight on Saturday at 3:10 p.m. Liking is the only run who has run a 3K this season, crossing in 8:14.76 at the Badger Icebreaker. Ellenberg, Liking and Wheeler are all coming off top-12 finishes at the Big Ten Cross Country Championships.
5. FOUR IN THE 5000: Four Badgers are scheduled run in the 5,000 meters, including Ellenberg, who led the Badgers with a third-place finish at Big Ten Cross Country. Evan Bishop and Seth Hirsch also competed in the cross country championships, finishing 15th and 24th, respectively. Aljabaly is also scheduled to run the 5K. The event will take place Friday at 4:10 p.m.
