Badgers head to Indiana for Big Ten quad

Bloomington Ind. -- The Wisconsin men's track and field team heads to Bloomington, Indiana, this Saturday to compete in the Hoosier Hills Invitational. The Badgers take on Indiana, Ohio State, and Purdue in the meet that begins at 2 p.m. CT following the conclusion of the women's meet, which begins at 10 a.m. CT.

1. NIMBLE HASSAN: Freshman Abdullahi Hassan continues to be a dominant racer for the Badgers. He is currently ranked second in the Big Ten in both the 600 meters (1:18.11) and 800 meters (1:50.34) while ranking 17th nationally in the 800 meters. Freshman Davis Wenthe will also compete in the 600 meters at 3:25 p.m. CT after running the 60-meter hurdle trials at 2 p.m. CT

2. ENZ AND THE 400 METERS: Junior Colin Enz is the lone Badger competing in the 400 meters with a seed time of 48.25. He is currently ranked 10th in the Big Ten with a time of 48.39. The 400 meter race starts at 3 p.m. CT.

3. THROWING DOWN: Dan Ufearo and Cole Hooper look to continue their upward trajectories in the weight throw. Ufearo is ranked ninth in the Big Ten with a mark of 62-0 1/2Â while Hooper is ranked 14th with a toss of 59-8 1/2. Freshman Jason Swarens will also compete in the weight throw and the event starts at 3:30 p.m. CT.

4. VAULTING THEIR WAY TO THE TOP:Â Freshmen Chandlar Ifft and Canon Melstrand look to maintain their top-10 standings when they compete in the pole vault. Ifft is ranked sixth in the Big Ten with a clearance of 16-0 3/4 while Melstrand is ranked ninth with a vault of 15-7. Both men will compete in the event at 3:30 p.m. CT.

5. 4x400 RELAY : After their third-place finish at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational two weeks ago, Enz, Hassan, Wenthe, and Hudson Kugel ran the sixth-fastest time in the Big Ten this season at 3:14.66. This weekend Austin Rendon will step in for Kugel with the hope of improving the Badgers' time. The event starts at 4 p.m. CT.
