UW will play its first home games in almost 700 days this weekend
MADISON, Wis. – After playing its first 16 games of the 2021 season away from home, the Wisconsin softball team will make its home debut this weekend with a four-game series against Illinois. First pitch on Friday is at 3 p.m., Saturday's doubleheader begins at noon and Sunday's game, which can be seen live on Big Ten Network, begins at 4 p.m.
2. FRESHMEN MAKING MOVES: Through 16 games this year, Peyton Bannon leads the Badgers in batting average with a .313 clip while her 10 hits on the year rank fourth on the team. Fellow freshman Skylar Sirdashney has a team-high 12 hits while her six RBI rank third on the team.
3. MIGHTY MADDIE: Maddie Schwartz has started 10 of the Badgers' 16 games this year and her 67.1 innings pitch lead all Big Ten Conference hurlers. Schwartz also has two shutouts and 40 strikeouts on the season.

5. AGAINST ILLINOIS: UW trails the all-time series against Illinois 26-20, but the two teams are 9-9 in games in Madison. The Fighting Illini are 11-5 this season, but just dropped three of their four games against Minnesota last weekend.
There are no tickets for sale or general fans permitted at the Goodman Softball Complex at this time, but fans can watch the Badgers in action live on Big Ten Network+ and follow the action on Twitter (@BadgerSoftball).
This weekend's series marks the first home series for UW since May 3-5, 2019 against Nebraska.
