IOWA CITY, Iowa — Wisconsin recorded its second top-five finish of the season after taking fourth at the Hawkeye Invitational.
The team shot a two-under-par 862 in the first round and a four-over-par 292 in the second to total 578 (-2) on Saturday. In the final round, the Badgers shot a 284 (-4) to seal the fourth-place finish with an 862 (-2). The 284 ties the team's lowest round of the season.
"We had another strong team effort this week," said head coach
Michael Burcin. "One through six, all the kids played solid."
Cameron Huss led the team at four-under-par with a 212. He shot a new career-low 18-hole score of 68 (-4) in the first round and a two-over-par 74 in the second round. His 36-hole total of 142 (-2) and his 54-hole total of 212 (-4) are also new career-lows. The freshman recorded his first top-10 finish, coming in eighth.
Three other Badgers finished in the top-25.
Robbie Morway and
Nick Robinson both shot a 215 (-1) to tie for 11th.
Sam Anderson shot a 217 (+1) to finish 22nd.
Morway competed as Wisconsin's individual entry. He shot a 36-hole score of 145 (+1) and 54-hole score of 215 (-1) to set new career-lows.
"I continue to have a lot of belief in these six guys," said Burcin. "We are excited for the Big Ten Championship."
The Badgers have just one final competition of the season. The Big Ten Championship will be played April 30 - May 2 at Crooked Stick Golf Course in Carmel, Indiana.
