IOWA CITY, Iowa — The Badger women's rowing team took on Big Ten opponents Minnesota and Iowa, as well as Kansas and Drake at the Iowa Rowing Regatta on Saturday morning.

The Wisconsin open weights recorded three first-place finishes and one second-place finish, putting up some of their best times of the year against Big Ten rivals Iowa and Minnesota.

UW's fours led the way with the varsity four reaching the finish first by over eight seconds faster than second-place Iowa. The second varsity four won their race by over 12 seconds over second-place Minnesota.

The Badgers also won the third varsity eight/novice eight race by more than 10 seconds over second-place Iowa.

"We had a pretty good morning we definitely showed each other what we learned from last weekend and it was a good outing for us. We're still a little bit behind a couple of crews that we definitely want to be in front of, but you know they showed up today too, but we're really confident and positive that we know what we need to do now and that is what these races are all about. Good day for the Badgers and a good day for the Big Ten and we're looking forward to a couple of weeks from now when we all gather in Indy for the Big Ten Championship."

Up next: Wisconsin will return home to Porter Boathouse and Lake Mendota as the team gears up to host Eastern Michigan next Saturday, May 1.
