
Pelton-Byce signs with AHL’s Manitoba Moose

Senior and Madison native set to begin pro career
MADISON, Wis. – One of the Wisconsin men's hockey team's alternate captains, senior forward Ty Pelton-Byce, is now a professional hockey player.
The Madison native signed a one-year contract for the 2021-22 season with the AHL's Manitoba Moose, the top minor-league affiliate of the NHL's Winnipeg Jets. He will join the club on an Amatuer Tryout contract for the rest of this campaign.
"With the type of year we had, the players were the ones who performed well and you expect NHL teams to recognize that," head coachTony Granato said. "Ty was definitely one of those players and he is getting rewarded. I'm glad we got a chance to coach him and I'm excited to see him take the next step in his life and his hockey career."
Pelton-Byce, a 2021 honorable mention All-Big Ten team pick, is currently tied for 11th in the country with 31 points on 12 goals and 19 assists in 24 games. His 1.29 points per game rank seventh in the nation.
Tied for fourth in the NCAA with seven power-play tallies, he tied for third in Big Ten play with 11 goals, while his 25 league points shared fifth.
A transfer from Harvard, Pelton-Byce spent a pair of seasons on UW ice and tallied 21 goals, 34 assists and 55 points in 56 games as a Badger. He totaled 32 goals, 56 assists and 88 points in 122 collegiate hockey contests.
At one point this season, Pelton-Byce went on a nine-game point streak that included six goals and 12 points between Jan. 10 and Feb. 6. He also produced a four-point game on Feb. 20 in a 5-5 contest against Notre Dame with two goals and two assists. He tallied the game-tying goal at 19:33 of the third period in that game
A Badger legacy, Pelton-Byce is the son of former UW track and field student-athlete and professional basketball player Alicia Pelton, as well as 2020 Wisconsin Athletics Hall of Famer John Byce. John was a 1990 NCAA champion, played in the NHL for the Boston Bruins and professionally in Europe, while also starring for Wisconsin's baseball team as an All-Big Ten player.
