Thirteen Badgers to compete at IIHF Women’s World Championships

Eight Badgers will suit up for the U.S. while five will play for Canada
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's hockey team will be well-represented at the upcoming IIHF Women's World Championships as eight Badgers will play for the U.S. while five will suit up for Team Canada.
Former Badgers Alex Cavallini, Brianna Decker, Hilary Knight and Abby Roque are joined by current UW student-athletes Natalie Buchbinder, Britta Curl and Lacey Eden along with incoming Badger freshman Caroline Harvey on the U.S. roster.
Canada's roster features five former Badgers in Kristen Campbell, Emily Clark, Ann-Renee Desbiens, Sarah Nurse and Blayre Turnbull.
A trio of former UW captains will be donning the "A" at the tournament as Knight and Decker are serving as alternate captains for Team USA while Turnbull is an alternate captain for Canada.
The tournament begins with group play on Friday with Canada facing Finland at 5 p.m. CT while the U.S. meets Switzerland at 8:30 p.m. CT.
The U.S. and Canada both played exhibition games on Wednesday as Decker scored twice and Harvey added a goal in Team USA's 6-0 win over the Russian Olympic Committee while Clark had the game-winner for Canada in its 4-1 win over Finland.
