Wisconsin travels to Bradley for first road meet of the season
MADISON-- The Wisconsin women's cross country team travels to Peoria, Illinois. for the Bradley Intercollegiate on Friday. The women's three-mile race is set to begin at 5:15 p.m. and live updates will be posted on ShazamRacing.com.
1. A PERFECT WEEKEND: Last Friday the Badgers kicked off their 2021 season in a dominant fashion by earning a perfect score against DePaul at the Badger Classic. Junior Shea Ruhly led the pack, winning the opener with a time of 18 minutes, 31.3 seconds on the 5,200 meter course. Samantha Stieve (18:42.4), Kate Jortberg (18:59.2), Sarah Shulze (18:59.8), and Ellen Van Doorn (19:04.0) solidified Wisconsin's perfect score, sweeping the top-five places. The Badgers also finished sixth - Peyton Sippy (19:05.8) - and seventh - Madison Mooney (19:08.3) as well.Â
2. MOVING ON UP: With Wisconsin's victorious win last weekend, the Badgers have moved up in both the regional and national rankings. As of Tuesday Wisconsin holds a third-place standing in the Great Lakes Regional and a 28th place standing in the USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll.
3. SCOUTING BRADLEY: Earlier this month, the Braves began their 2021 season at the Hawkeye Invitational where they finished in sixth place with 190 points. Junior Sophia McDonnell led Bradley with her sixth-place finish.
