Badgers men's soccer plays two this week, including a nonconference game against in-state foe Tuesday

MADISON, Wisc. – Wisconsin men's soccer hosts Milwaukee Tuesday night and heads east for a conference matchup with Rutgers on Friday. Here are Five Things to Know before the Badgers face the Panthers and Scarlet Knights.

Last Time Out: UW opened conference play with a draw against Michigan State 1-1 in front of 1,412 fans. The Spartans took a 1-0 lead into halftime and junior Ignasi Marques tied the game in the 70th minute off a pass combo from Aron Eli Saevarsson and Moritz Kappelsberger.

Five Different Scorers: All five goals from Wisconsin this season have come from a different Badger. Tim Bielic, Jack Finnegan, Iñaki Iribarren, Kappelsberger, and Marques each have one goal on the season. Zach Klancnik, Kappelsberger, and Saevarsson lead the team with a pair of assists each.

Limited Scoring Chances: The UW defense is one of three teams in the Big Ten that gives up less than one goal per contest. They are second in the conference with 0.71 goals allowed per game.

Abbott Saving the Badgers: Sophomore keeper Carter Abbott is second in the Big Ten in goals against average (.489), save percentage (.850), and shutouts (2).

Series Against Milwaukee and Rutgers: The Badgers own the matchup against the Panthers 19-14-9, including an unbeaten streak of 13 games in a span from 2006-18. Milwaukee won the last contest 1-0 when they hosted UW in 2019. Against the Scarlet Knights, Wisconsin holds a 5-4 advantage thanks to five consecutive victories from 2015-18. Rutgers beat the Badgers 1-0 in Loves Park, Illinois in the spring 2021 season.

Kickoff for Tuesday's contest at McClimon Soccer Complex is set for 7 p.m. and admission is free. The matchup with Rutgers on Friday begins at 6 p.m. Both contests can be streamed on BTN+.
