MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin women's hockey head coach
Mark Johnson announced the leadership group for the 2021-22 season on Friday.
For the second-straight year,
Grace Bowlby will captain the Badgers. She will be assisted by fellow seniors
Nicole LaMantia,
Brette Pettet,
Maddie Posick,
Caitlin Schneider and
Daryl Watts.
"I'm really excited for the opportunity to lead such an incredible team," Bowlby, a first-team All-American last year, said. "I'm very confident in our leadership group and am excited to get the season started!"
A native of Edina, Minnesota, Bowlby is the first multiple-time captain for the Cardinal and White since UW Hall of Famer Carla Macleod captained the Badgers during the 2003-04 and 2004-05 seasons. Current UW Director of Operations
Sis Paulsen also was a multi-time captain for UW, leading UW during the 2000-01, 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons.
Pettet and Schneider are part of the UW leadership group for the second-straight year while LaMantia, Poisck and Watts will don a letter for the first time in their UW careers.
The Badgers open up the 2021-22 season this weekend with a series at Lindenwood. Puck drop on Friday is set for 7:10 p.m. while Saturday's series finale in Maryland Heights, Missouri, is set for 3:30 p.m.
