Brette Pettet scored twice but it wasn't enough as the top-ranked Wisconsin women's hockey team fell 4-3 to No. 5 Minnesota on Saturday afternoon at Ridder Arena.Ā
Pettet got the game started with a goal for the Badgers just under five minutes into the game. Minnesota answered just over a minute later and the game was tied 1-1. Fellow senior
Caitlin Schneider then lit the lamp off her own rebound to give the Badgers a 2-1 lead.Ā
Minnesota was then able to score two goals back-to-back and went into the second period up 3-2 over Wisconsin.
The Gophers opened the second period with a goal to get a 4-2 lead.
Pettet wasn't done scoring, as she scored with 17 left in the third to bring UW within one, but the Badgers were unable to complete the comeback.

- UW outshot Minnesota 33-25, marking the second-straight game the Badgers outshot the Gophers.Ā
- It marked Pettet's sixth career multi-goal game and her first of the season.Ā

The Badgers return to the Land of 10,000 Lakes next weekend for a trio of games. UW will face St. Cloud State on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center and on Saturday at 3 p.m. Following their time in the Granite City, UW will head to Mendota Heights, Minnesota, to take on St. Thomas on Monday, Jan. 31 in a 7:15 p.m. CT contest.Ā
