MADISON, Wis. – Add 2022 Olympian to the hockey resume of Wisconsin men's hockey national champion Ben Street. He was officially named to Canada's 2022 Olympic Team on Tuesday by Hockey Canada. The 2022 Olympic Winter Games run Feb. 4-20 in Beijing, China.
Street, a native of Coquitlam, British Columbia, skated for the Badgers from 2005-10, winning the 2006 NCAA title his freshman season and reaching a second NCAA title game in 2010.
He finished his UW career with 48 goals and 93 points in 171 career contests for the Badgers. He also served as co-captain during the 2008-09 season (Blake Geoffrion) and tri-captain for the 2009-10 NCAA final run (Geoffrion, Ryan McDonagh). He won the Ivan B. Williamson Scholastic Award for UW during the 2009-10 season.
The undrafted Street, who currently skates for EHC Red Bull München of the DEL in Germany, has skated in 59 career NHL games for the Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche, Detroit Red Wings, Anaheim Ducks and New Jersey Devils. He's also played in the AHL for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Abbotsford, Lake Erie, San Antonio, Grand Rapids, San Diego and Binghamton, as well as part of one season in the ECHL with Wheeling.
Street continues the Badgers' streak of having at least one skater in each Olympics since the 1976 Olympic Winter Games when John Taft captained Team USA and Steve Alley and Bob Lundeen competed for the American squad under the direction of head coach Bob Johnson and assistant coach Grant Standbrook.
In the most recent PyeongChang, South Korea, games in 2018, former Badgers Rene Bourque and Cody Goloubef helped Team Canada to the bronze medal. UW head coach
Tony Granato and former Badger Chris Chelios helped Team USA as head and assistant coach for the 2018 games, respectively. Former Badger Jim Johannson served as Team USA general manager for the squad in the lead up before passing away within weeks of the Olympics start.

Mark Johnson and the late Bob Suter won gold with Team USA during the 'Miracle on Ice.' Curtis Joseph (2002) and Dany Heatley (2010) own gold medals for Team Canada.
Chris Chelios, Brian Rafalski, Mike Richter and Gary Suter each won silver with Team USA in 2002, while Rafalski, Ryan Suter and Joe Pavelski won silver with USA in 2010.
Street joins 10 UW women's hockey players, including five each on Team USA and Team Canada, as Olympic competitors. UW men's and women's equipment managers
