"There were four international crews ahead of us and we beat some crews we didn't beat last year.

"Five of our eight guys in the men's eight are novices - guys who did not row in high school, extremely impressive. We are constantly learning and it leaves you wanting more.

"Pretty good day overall… we were very workmanlike and worked well. The only regret the guys had was they had a lot more to burn at the end.

"Our coxswains Jonah Rane and Grayson VanLue were just brilliant, we are super coxswain heavy in a good way. Our coxswain last year Jimmy Catalano was the men's eight coxswain for the US team and they set the all time course record. There's always something to work on but we don't need any work on our coxswains, they are already excellent

"Everybody's pretty pleased but we want more."
